Millennial Juicer

juicing isn't just for your hippie grandma any longer…

About Millenial Juicer October 29, 2010

Juicing always made me think of old, hippe, fitness, weirdo types and of Jack LaLanne, of course, but now that I’ve made it a regular part of my life, I really know why people who juice regularly are so passionate about it. Sometimes being passionate about something these days makes people think you’re a little off or “out-there” so I can see why there’s such a stigma associated with the juicing crowd. But, I really think it’s time to destruct that stereotype because juicing is awesome for you in so many ways. It’s as plain and simple as that. Plus, there isn’t any reason why you have to be “old”, “hippie”, “a weirdo” or anything else like that in order to enjoy the benefits of juicing. My goal is to bring juicing back, in a way that my homies can understand.

I was given a basic Jack LaLanne juicer as a gift and before that long that juicer was in heavy use. Ever since I started juicing regularly (and regularly for me equals at least once a day) and made most of them full of some green vegetable like asparagus, spinach (my fave), or kale , I have felt better physically, mentally and emotionally. I suddenly have energy to exercise (which, was not there before at all) which also helps make me feel better but it never would’ve had the chance without the energy from juicing. My mind is clearer and focusing is a breeze. Finally, handling stress is a lot much easier to manage than it used to be. Okay, yes, this could be a placebo effect in that I have added this new juice drink (that takes some effort in procuring the produce, preparing, juicing and cleaning) so I’m going to believe that it’s the reason for this sudden change. Well whatever it is, it works and even if you’re not in it for these benefits the taste of this juice will be enough to lure you in (I hope so, at least)

I plan to post my successful juice recipes here and by successful I mean tasty, nutritious, yummy and good-for-you. I plan to express my creativity through juicing as a way to get my generation interested in this activity. I truly believe (at least for most of you) that if you juiced at least once a day (and good recipes) for a week you’d stick to it. I’ll show how preparation and clean up is not such a hassle and can be fun and/or interesting. I’ll give you a peak into my juicing experiments as I try new flavors, ingredients and nutrients. I’ll occasionally share my comments on items related to juicing as well as my take on turning preparation and clean up into a breeze.

I’m also very open to sharing so if you have any ideas, suggestions or even recipes you’d like to share with the juicing community please email me as I’d like to see if I could help in any way.
